He started the process by mixing sulfur and rubber then added droplets to the hot stove, when this was checked a day after he realized that the rubber had remained flexible. This was later called the vulcanization process.

The technique of stamping or rubber stamping is a special craft that utilizes different types of ink; the ink could be made from pigment or dye. The ink would then be applied to the sheet of rubber where the pattern or image was already molded, carved, vulcanized or laser engraved. Nativity rubber stamps are popularly used on some special paper or fabric type; other objects could be rock, glass, plastic, metal or wood.
